I was worried about not pressing down hard enough and having slippage of the friction drive against my tire, but that has not happened. Perhaps because the unit weighs so much. The structural parts appear to be made our of steel, rather than something lighter like aluminum or carbon fiber... but this helps keep cost down, $ has the benefit of pressing down on my front tire even when I get distracted. So, like all engineered products, it is a matter of tradeoffs. It's not as compact as some other units, and the hose clamps that need to be removed to break the unit down into a more compact form for travel do not have thumbscrews, so tools are needed to do this, but not many, and it can be done relatively quickly. Or I can lay it with the drive in the baggage compartment, and the rest of it sticking forward between the rear seats of my 4- place Bonanza. I find it has plenty of torque & battery life, works well, and is a fair price. I am satisfied.
